There is something for everyone who visits Uganda, the Pearl of
Africa. Do you wish to have a family vacation in Uganda? Well, look no further
than African Moments Safaris. We have put together a number of itineraries
giving utmost attention to every detail to cater for every member of the family.
Important notes to guide you when planning your family safari to Uganda are
listed below:
1. Some of the activities have got an age limit. For example, gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking are prohibited for children below 15 years of age. This means you cannot go with your children below 15 years to the forest to track the mountain gorillas and chimpanzees.
2. Kibale National Park has child friendly activities such as guided short nature walks, painting & artwork, children scouts and adventurous activities. These will keep children busy, engaged and entertained when you go for chimpanzee tracking. In the end all of you will have stories to tell.
3. Activities like volcano hikes are just too tiring and exhausting for the children. This is because they either take a long time or require a lot more strength and resilience. We therefore recommend that you opt for more mild ones like game viewing.
4. All park entrance fees are separate for adults and children. Children in this case are persons between 5-15years. Therefore when planning your trip you need to budget for the children as well. Children below 5 years are exempt from paying park entrance fees.
5. Recommended activities for children on safari include cultural experiences, boat trips and game drives. Vacation time is bonding time and so you can bond with your older children by going for adrenaline fun activities such as bungee jumping and white water rafting on the Nile; quad bike riding and horseback riding.
You may be wondering whether there is lodges and hotels to accommodate both adults and children or the entire family in this case. The answer is yes. A number of hotels, lodges and tented camps accommodate families comfortably; and with discounts for children or when children stay in the same room with their parents. These accommodations have a variety of fresh foods and drinks to cater for every family member including the children. We recommend you carry cool drinks and snacks for your children when going for a game drive. However, the child policy varies with different accommodations. You also need not worry about ground transportation for your family of say 8 people. We would recommend the safari van.
