Welcome to the land of a thousand hills! Upon arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative. He will brief you about the 5 Days Safari and drive you to your booked accommodation in Kigali City. Relax, have dinner and overnight stay. Meal plan: Dinner
After breakfast, start off your journey to discover Nyungwe forest national park. Along the way, make stopovers at Royal Palace Museum and the Ethnographic Museum in Southern Province to learn about Rwand's history and cultures. You will have lunch en route at one of the local restaurants. Upon arrival at Nyungwe, you will check-in at your booked accommodation and have the whole afternoon at leisure. After breakfast, you will be dropped at Nyungwe headquarters for briefing before venturing into chimpanzee tracking. Although chimpanzees hog the limelight, Nyungwe forest has more 12 primate species to look out for. Smell the freshness as you listen to the birds singing in the trees. The forest is also home to a colorful variety of birds and butterfly species. Upon finding the chimpanzees, you will be allowed one hour in their company. Observe them as you take pictures, audio and visual recordings. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will go for the famous canopy walk. This exhilarating walk on a 70 meters suspended metallic bridge affords you a scenic overview of Nyungwe forest and its environs. Also, get to see birds and primates up close while on this approximately 2-hour venture. Later in the afternoon return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. After breakfast, report to park offices for briefing before taking on the search for the black and white colobus monkeys. After lunch, visit the Gisakura tea gardens. Here you will learn about tea planting, harvesting and processing. Feel free to take as many photos and videos as you like. Later drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight. After a relaxed breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Kivu, to experience the beautiful sun rise over Lake Kivu. Take a boat ride to explore the beautiful attractions within this great lake. Disembark from the boat to take on a nature walk on one of the islands. Lake Kivu is also a birders' haven as it is home to a number of bird species like the comrand, pied king fishers, weaver birds, heron to mention but a few. Return to the shore and drive off to Kigali airport to catch up with your onward flight. End of service.
