Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be welcomed by our driver guide. He will brief you about your 14 days safari and then drive you to your booked accommodation for dinner and overnight stay. Meal Plan: Dinner
Venture into Rwanda’s history by taking on a tour around the Capital Kigali. Visit landmarks from colonial, post-independence, genocide and post-genocide times. You can’t miss the Kigali Genocide memorial site where over 259,000 genocide victims were put to rest in mass graves; the Belgian camp where they killed the 10 Belgian UN soldiers who were protecting the moderate prime minister before the start of genocide; and Kimironko Local Market among other city attractions etc.
After breakfast, transfer to Muhanga village. Get hands on with the local experiences such as making some artisans, imigongo (cow dung art experience), traditional cooking, Candle Dipping and Hive Making. Happy locals will take you through the activities. Thereafter, proceed to Butare and make a stopover at the Nyanza Royal palace.
Learn about Rwanda’s cultures and history by visiting the National Museum. After lunch, get entertained by traditional music, dance and drama within the museum grounds. Visit the Catholic Church in Butare.
Early morning after breakfast head to Nyungwe National Park arriving in time for the canopy walk.
Track the chimpanzee and later head to Kibuye along L. Kivu. Savor uninterrupted views of the country side. Check in at your booked accommodation, and thereafter enjoy a boat ride on Lake Kivu. Discover the Napoleon and Amahoro islands by taking some short hikes on these beautiful islands. The islands are home to the rare Angola fruit bats and other bird species.
This day is dedicated to the Congo-Nile excursion. Activities for the day include coffee and tea tours, local livelihood experiences, and joining local fishermen using traditional boats.
Today presents you with insights into the lives of women who live with HIV/AIDS, former prostitutes, widows of genocide, street kids etc.
Experience Buhanga Eco Park. The park is a sacred forest where the Rwandese Kings performed their initiation ceremonies. After you will visit the red rocks for a home stay.
Track the rare and Albertine rift endemic golden monkeys in the morning. Visit the twin lakes in the afternoon.
Embark on a scenic drive to Akagera National Park.
After breakfast we will we go for the game drive and in the afternoon have a boat ride on Lake Ihema. Savor uninterrupted views of hippos, huge Nile crocodiles and a variety of bird species.
Spend the day roaming the park tracts in search of the big 5 and other interesting wildlife. You are also likely to encounter some bird species as the park is home to over 500 bird species.
Return to Kigali, have lunch, buy for yourself some souvenirs before transferring to the airport for your onward flight. End of service.
